Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park for its Wildlife including the famous Tree Climbing Lions

It is located in the west of Uganda boosting a spectacular Kazinga channel together with the Maramagambo forest. The Park consists of some of Uganda’s major lakes (Lake Edward and Lake George) which are both connected by the Kazinga channel.

The Park was named so in order to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth II and it is mostly known for hosting the largest number of bird species in the whole of East Africa and its tree climbing lions which are so amazing to many tourists.

The Park is twinned together with Queen Elizabeth Country Park in England under a project of ‘’cultural exchange, mutual support, and empowering the local communities’’ of which the project’s more emphasis is on supporting conservation through working close with.

The Park is also famous for its volcanic features including the deep craters and volcanic cones such as Katwe craters where salt is extracted from.

The Park resides over 600 bird species and very many wildlife species such as buffaloes, African bush elephants, Nile crocodiles, Hippos, Ugandan Kob, African leopards, Warthogs, Baboons, African lions, and chimpanzees which inhabit in the Kyambura Gorge.

The Park is widely and globally known for the tree climbing lions which are seen resting at the branches of trees in Ishasha sector of the Park especially seen during the noon time when there is too much sun rays and thus these tree climbing lions will therefore climb the trees for shades.

Leopards in the Park room at the Mweya peninsular and the Park is among Africa’s best destinations for wildlife safaris and most tourists visit it because of its special tree climbing lions.

The Kazinga channel looks more beautiful in the Park and it is one of the most attractive things in the Park because it provides many activities including the boat cruises through which you will be viewing a large number of hippos and Nile crocodiles plus a wide range of aquatic bird species.

The Kazinga channel attracts many animals to come in the Park because it provides them with water for drinking. The Park has both budget and luxury lodges established near to it thus providing shelters to the visitors and these include; Kyambura game lodge, Ishasha Wilderness camp, Hippo safari lodge, Jacana safari lodge, Mweya safari lodge, Kyambura Gorge lodge, Tembo safari lodge, Irungu forest safari lodge, Engazi game lodge and campsite, Park View safari lodge, Ihamba lakeside safari lodge, Buffalo safari lodge, Baboon safari resort, Marafiki safari lodge, Queen Elizabeth bush lodge, Enjojo lodge and many others.
