Visit Semliki National Park for its amazing hot springs & Wildlife

In Bwamba County which is a remote part of Bundibugyo district in western Uganda is where this Park is perched being governed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and it is also Uganda’s newest Park which was made a national park in October of 1993.

The Park is dominated by birds of which it boosts almost 500 bird species and it is the only tract of true lowland tropical forests in East Africa.

For the birders, this is definitely your ideal destination because it resides almost all Africa’s best bird species such as White crested hornbills, red-billed dwarf hornbills, piping hornbills, yellow-throated nicator, great blue and Ross’s Turacos, Sassi’s Olive Greenbul and many more.

Due to the fact that it contains almost each best African bird species, it is thus one of the best destinations for birding because you will not only view many bird species but also you will view Africa’s best bird species and thus being referred to as ‘’The True Birders’ Haven’’.

The Park is borders Democratic Republic of Congo (Ituri forests) and the Rwenzori Mountains in the south west of the Park well as in the North there is Lake Albert.

The Park consists of many features similar to that of Central Africa such as the Semuliki River which is a miniature version of Congo River plus many Central African wildlife species together with the local community (Batwa pygmy people) who originated from the Ituri thus it is more of Central Africa than East Africa regardless of its location.

The Park consists of many attractive features such as Hot springs where water is hot enough to cook eggs and various green plantains plus many activities to enjoy which include birding, cultural encounters, game drives, game viewing, hiking and nature walks.

Apart from the bird species, the Park also has many residents such as red-tailed monkeys, black and white Colobus, savanna elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, crocodiles, warthogs, leopards, hippos and elusive bush babies, civets, pygmy squirrels and duikers.
