Hell’s Gate National Park

For a tourist who really visits Kenya to enjoy and have good time there should not leave the country minus visiting this dramatic national park.

The Park is so adventurous with large animals which are safe to explore on foot and on bicycle and on top of that the Park consists of a diverse topography and geological scenery.

The Park is situated on a land covering a total area of 68.25 square kilometers and it is located 90 kilometers from Nairobi next to Lake Naivasha.

The Park is known for inhabiting a large number of wildlife and for its beautiful scenery where you will view brilliant things from there except the wildlife such as; the Central tower columns, Hell’s gate gorge which consists of two red cliffs and the Fischer’s tower plus the three geothermal power stations at Olkaria thus all giving a great experience to the visitors of the Park.

The Park also comprises of three basic campsites including the Maasai cultural centre where visitors will be educated about the Maasai tribe culture and traditions thus leaving the Park with a great experience and a memorable safari. The Park also consists of two extinct volcanoes (Olkaria and Hobley’s) which can be viewed as well as obsidian forms from the cool molten lava.

The Park has many wildlife species though some are resided in fewer amounts such as the cheetahs, lions, Klipspringers, and leopards. The most notable wildlife species in the Park include; hartebeests, elands, hyenas, baboons, servals, Thomson’s gazelles, zebras, Mountain reedbucks and many more.

A variety of bird species also exists in the Park such as; the rare lammergeyer vultures, Verreaux’s eagles, augur buzzards, and vultures plus many others.

There are many interesting activities that the Park’s visitor will get involved in and at lowered prices such as; motorcycling, bicycling, hiking, boat cruises (at Lake Naivasha), Cultural encounters at Maasai cultural centre, bird watching, game viewing and many others.

The Park consists of various accommodations which are of very good quality and some of which include; Fish eagle inn, Camp Carnelley’s, Elsamere lodge and conservation centre, Kiangazi house, Kongoni lodge, Ole Itiko cottages, and many more.

Due to the Park’s beautiful scenery, it is also a filming centre where various films have been captured and shot from there such as the famous ‘’Lara Croft Tomb Raider’’ and ‘’The Cradle of life’’.
