From the thrilling chimpanzees that rein in Kibale Forest National Park in southern Uganda, protecting moist evergreen rain forest. It is an important Eco-tourism and safari destination and popular for its population of habituated chimpanzees and 13 species of primates including the L’Hoest monkey, grey cheeked mangabey, vervet monkeys, Colobus monkeys, bush babies, among others.

Uganda is known as the “Pearl of Africa “for a very good reason, it is stunning and not only does it contain some of the most sought after photographic subjects but it is blessed with an amazing climate, stunning landscapes and some of the friendliest and most hospitable people on the continent.

Start the safari with transfer to Kibale Forest National Park in the morning with the target to have lunch in Fort portal. A punctuation of stopovers in the far country side offer us chances of stretching in villages and around tea plantations along the drive as we check in evening. Have a night in a beautiful Primate Lodge in Kibale Forest. Primate Lodge Kibale’s principal edge is our location, tucked deep in the forest and right next door to the starting point for Chimpanzee tracking excursion as well as the incredible Chimpanzee Habituation, really, two of the most genuinely breath-taking wildlife experiences on the planet. All of our nine spacious and en-suite Luxury Cottages, each secluded deep in the forest for maximum privacy and a natural ‘living in nature’ feel.

It is an early start the next day as you head into the rain forest for you full day experience with habituated chimpanzees. Ready with your packed lunch, mineral, hiking boots, rain gears, insect repellent, sun glasses, long sleeved shirt and trouser, gloves, a hat and a camera, we transfer to Kanyankyu headquarters for a full briefing about the do’s and don’ts of the primates. Unlike chimpanzee tracking which is generally limited to 1 hour, with Chimpanzee Habituation Experience you are allowed to spend a full day with the chimps as they go about their daily routine.

Chimpanzee Habituation Experience is a lifetime experience that allows accompanies Kibale’s researchers and habituation at chimpanzee during their daily activities, thereby getting used to human presence without changing their behaviors. During your tour, expect coming across the chimps de-nesting between 6:00am – 6:30am, before them throughout their daily activity until they make new nests and the night around 7:00pm in the evening. You will encounter them as they groom, eat, fight, mate and play and the photo opportunities are plentiful.

The opportunity of doing such a long day with the chimps is to give you the opportunity to master what can quite be challenging photography at times. In the late afternoon, you will head back to your lodge for your dinner and overnight as you wade through your images that you took.
