The gorilla trek in Uganda from Kigali will start and end in Kigali. This becomes a short cut of the whole journey. Since it takes over 9hrs from Entebbe to Bwindi Forest National Park, the journey from Rwanda becomes the best alternative to go to Bwindi. It will take between 3 to 4hours making it short and time conscious for such a trip.
On arrival in Kigali, start with a city tour that will take 1-2 hours visiting the market places, genocide memorial site, king’s palace, museum and many more places around the city. After getting all this, transfer to Bwindi via Cyanika for gorilla trekking.
Wake up bright and early for breakfast in the lodge, getting ready to meet at Bwindi headquarters at 07:00. Once you arrive, you’ll be introduced to your guide who will give you 30-minute information and safety briefing. You’ll be joining a group of a maximum of 8 other trekkers.
The trek is physically demanding and can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 9 hours. It’s worth every second once contact is made. You’ll be allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas, blending into the background, watching how they spend their time in the forest. Descend and pick your certificate from the headquarters.
After the trek, you will return to your lodge for a well-deserved dinner, shower, rest, and perhaps a few Sun downers! Why miss the relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi?
Early in the morning go for Lake Bunyonyi for a boat cruise then transfer back to Kigali for a night flight. Lake Bunyonyi is also a very perfect place to relax and chill out, canoeing in a dugout canoe, swimming, Island hopping, boating, hiking, birding, village visits, nature walks as well as the interactive cultural visits as you stay along Lake Bunyonyi.
