Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Experience

Mgahinga is one of the only four National Parks in the world which habit and protect the lives of the rare endangered Mountain gorillas with Bwindi national park which is also in Uganda, Virunga National Park in Democratic Republic of Congo, and Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

Mgahinga is of course the smallest national park in Uganda among the ten national parks in the country but surprisingly it is one of the most ideal national parks in the whole world especially if you are a Mountain gorilla lover. The only habituated gorilla family in the Park is called Nyakagezi gorilla family.

The Park is found is found in western Uganda 15 kilometers from Kabale town and it is contiguous to Virunga national park in Congo and Volcanoes national park in Rwanda of which all the three lie under one ecosystem called the Virunga massif though from different countries.

The Park is home to over 100 Mountain gorillas and consists of three of the eight Virunga Mountains Volcanoes which are; Mount Sabyinyo, Mount Gahinga and Mount Muhabura.

The Park’s gorilla trekkers are also entitled to owe a Uganda gorilla tracking permit which is sold at US$ 600 from Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) in Kamwokya (Kampala).

The Batwa trail and golden monkey tracking are other amazing things in the Park which will make your safari so memorable and you will achieve a great experience especially through the cultural encounters where you will meet the Batwa people.

Every activity in the Park you will e accompanied by the Park’s trained and experienced guides/rangers who will make sure that you enjoy your time while in the Park and the guides are so friendly to the trekkers and ready to make you discover many things in the Park and about Uganda.
